Removal That Everyone in the Building Can Understand

Asbestos removal is rarely the project itself. It is the thing standing between you and the project: a kitchen gut, a boiler swap, a basement finish, a buyer's inspector who flagged the cellar, or a board that wants cracked hallway tile gone before it gets worse. Whoever is paying, the people around the job usually ask the same three things. What exactly is coming out? Will it drift into other rooms or other units? When do we get the space back? We answer those before the first roll of poly is opened. The materials we take out most are boiler and steam pipe lagging, old vinyl tile and its black mastic, popcorn and swirl ceilings, joint compound, cement siding and asbestos roof shingles, and the wrap on aging ductwork. Every one is confirmed by a lab before it is scheduled. On removal day the zone is sealed and held under HEPA-filtered negative pressure, the material is kept soaked, and it leaves the property bagged, labeled and bound for a disposal site permitted to receive it. The containment stays up until a third-party air test passes.

What a Removal Job Covers

Every removal is sized to the material and the building, but these pieces are part of each one.

  • Lab-confirmed scope

Only materials an accredited lab has confirmed are listed for removal, so the plan matches what is actually there.

  • Notifications filed

Larger projects need advance notice to the state, and it is prepared and filed before work begins.

  • Sealed enclosure

Poly over floors and walls, closed-off vents and doorways, and a decon route for the crew.

  • HEPA negative air

Filtered machines keep pressure inside the zone lower than the rest of the building, so air moves inward.

  • Wet removal

Material is soaked before and during removal so it comes off in heavy, damp pieces instead of dust.

  • Sealed, labeled waste

Everything removed is bagged or wrapped, labeled and carried out to a permitted disposal facility.

  • HEPA cleanup

Surfaces inside the zone are vacuumed with HEPA equipment and wet wiped before any testing.

  • Independent clearance

A third party samples the air, and the space reopens only when results are clear.

How a Planned Removal Runs

  1. Confirm and scope

Suspect materials are sampled and analyzed. You get a written scope listing each confirmed material, the size of the work area, how waste will be handled and what clearance means for your space, so an owner or a board can sign off with confidence.

  2. Seal and remove

Containment goes up first, the HEPA machines are switched on and the material is soaked. It comes off in sections, gets bagged inside the zone and leaves through the decontamination area, so nothing is carried through the house or the hallways.

  3. Clean, test and hand back

Every surface in the zone gets a HEPA vacuum pass and a wet wipe. An independent tester samples the air, and once results are clear the plastic comes down and the room is handed back for the next trade.

Why Owners Bring Their Removal Work Here

  • Credentialed hands on every bag

Each worker carries a New York State asbestos handler license, a New York City handler license issued through DEP, and OSHA safety training.

  • Answers the board can repeat

The scope, the containment plan and the clearance result are written plainly enough to pass along to tenants or buyers.

  • Nothing removed on a hunch

Lab results come first, which keeps the job to the material that actually needs to go.

  • Lab results before removal
  • Negative air in every zone
  • Waste to a permitted facility
  • Third-party air clearance
